Many recent research data confirms the connection between internet/social media addiction to mental health issues.
There are several factors that contribute to this global problem.
Examples are:
- Hyper-stimulation of our mind & senses through the constant bombardment of images and videos.
- People creating a false image about themselves through likes, followers etc. It feeds our false ego and false prestige.
- When there is no external artificial recognition from social media, it leads to questioning of self-worth in individuals.
- Lack of external stimulus causes Dopamine and other neurotransmitters withdrawal in the Brain and eventually leads to anxiety, stress and depression.
It’s important to remember that our Mind is a best friend and worst enemy. Social Media & Internet are mere tools for communication.
